Taking place on the 38-acre New Convenant Campus, GospelFest 2008 is co-sponsored by WPPZ-FM (Praise 103.9), CLC Ministry International, and New Convenant Church of Philadelphia. GospelFest 2008 is proud to be in association with the City of Philadelphia's/SUNOCO Welcome America celebration, a testament to our growth and recognition.

Now in its ninth year, GospelFest 2008 is expected to be the most brilliant production yet. Founded by David Almack (President of CLC Ministries USA) on the sidewalk of the CLC BookCenter in Chestnut Hill in June 2000, with an inaugural crowd of 300 people, this year's event is expected to attract more than 10, 000 people over 2 days.

GospelFest 2008 has numerous activities for the entire family to enjoy. Kids will be able to orbit the earth on the Moon Bounce, get their faces painted, and play on the spacious campus grounds.

In light of an outstanding community relationship, GospelFest 2008 will have the opportunity of offering delicious food from a selection of local restaurants and chefs. Come soak in the sounds, smells, and sights while enjoying two days of great music.

This year's bill includes Regina Belle, Jonathan Nelson, Denise King, Troy Sneed, BrooksLytle, and Breath of Heaven with many more artists to come. In past years, GospelFest has hosted Tramaine Hawkins, Mary Mary, Kierra "Kiki" Sheard, Tye Tribbett, Marvin Sapp, and Antonio Neal along with over 140 local and national performers.

Workshop Helps Women Start Businesses

 from 2-3pm.

Abbott Laboratories and community partners Circle of Care, Philadelphia Health Department, Siloam and YOACAP will present an empowerment summit, Women, Relationships and Health, on Wednesday, July 16th. 

Featured speaker Cookie Johnson, wife of Earvin “Magic” Johnson, will present Life with Magic...A Story of Love, Faith and Conquering.  Johnson, who has long been in the shadows of her husband, is now speaking out with African American women living with HIV/AIDS and has become an important voice as a wife, mother and caregiver.

Using Blogs to Promote Your Organization

Promoting an organization's agenda in the 21st century takes an internet presence.  But, how does an organization on a shoestring budget get its information on the internet?  With the ongoing Internet evolution, organizations have more tools at their fingertips than ever before to accomplish this required self-promotion. 

On Thursday, July 17th, 6:30-7:30pm, The Coalition will host a class called, Using Blogs to Promote Your Organization to teach organizations how to use the Internet as a resource for hunting, gathering of resources and promoting their agendas.  The event will be held at the Tustin Recreation Center, 5901 Columbia Avenue in Philadelphia, and is free to Coalition members and $50 for others.

This workshop is an opportunity for grass roots organization to learn more about a wide range of e-topics, including some fantastic how-tofor social networks and other tools.

During this workshop, participants will learn:  What is a blog?  Why do I/my organization need one?  How can I build and maintain a blog for free?  How can I promote my blog?  How can I use a blog to generate revenue?

Proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Internet navigation savvy are necessary.  Class space is limited.  Participants must RSVP before July 10, 2008 via phone at 215-387-2734.

Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. (TAI) is a non-profit organization with 50 chapters nationwide dedicated to honoring the accomplishments and perpetuating the history of African-Americans who participated in air crew, ground crew and operations support training in the Army Air Corps during WWII. TAI also engages in introducing young people across the nation to the world of aviation and science through local and national programs such as Young Eagles and TAI youth programs.

5th Children and Youth Festival (FREE)

For the last four years the Absalom Jones Foundation has sponsored a Children and Youth Festival on the grounds of The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Complex located at 4301 N. Broad Street (Broad & Hunting Park Ave.). Each year we have provided health screenings and identity kits to hundreds of children from the Community. Via Outreach Programs, promotional and informational items have also been distributed.  Carnival rides, games, refreshments and prizes, ‘All free’ have been given to the children during our Festival. 

This year our Fifth Children and Youth Festival will again provide free non evasive medical and health screenings to all neighborhood school age children (accompanied by guardian). Some of the organizations taking part will be the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, and Philadelphia College of Optometry. We will also have volunteers on hand from the CHIP (Child Identification Program) to provide a free video, fingerprinting and DNA kit for the children.

We still need your help, we are requesting that you through the auspices of your organization please come and be apart of our Festival.  There are several ways you can support us, through participation as an exhibitor, (free booths are available) or you may just sponsor a prize or donate a monetary contribution through our tax exempt foundation. Whatever sponsorship, contribution or product giveaway you choose will be greatly appreciated and acknowledged during the festival ceremonies.  Logo items are accepted.  Please contact us directly for any product distribution, banners or other items you would like to donate, sponsor or set up.

We sell nothing at the Children’s Festival all items and services are donated to the Children or their parents.

The Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress (MAC), a division of the Philadelphia's Conventions & Visitors Bureau (PCVB), and Philly Word Live!! Join to celebrate Philadelphia's multicultural talent through the 2nd Annual Global Fusion Festival, Saturday, July 19th from Noon to 8pm at Penn's Landing Great Plaza. As part of PECO's Multicultural Series, this FREE, one-day event will showcase a variety of local cultural entertainers, ethnic foods, crafts, give-aways and educational programs for participants of all ages.

This year's festival will be hosted by 107.9 WRNB's nationally syndicated host, Tom Joyner, of the Tom Joyner Morning Show. The Tom Joyner Morning Show is beamed into over 95 radio stations across the country each weekday, resulting in over 10 million listeners nationwide. Not only will Tom Joyner energize the event, but Global Fusion Festival headliners include Grammy-nominated, R&B heart throbs Eric Benet and Carl Thomas plus, EPIC Records artist, R&B singer Noel Gourdin. In addition, Blackground Records R&B artist, Tank and Billboard Awards and Latin Grammy-nominated bachata singer, Andy Andy will perform. FREE Leadership Camp

Team Focus is a year-round mentoring program specifically designed to raise up the next generation of leaders.  For the 5th year in a row, we will be hosting a FREE LEADERSHIP CAMP at Catholic University in Washington, DC.  The camp will be July 20, 2008 - July 23, 2008.  There Is Hope With Help has formed a collaborative effort to bring this program to the Philadelphia area.

We are recruiting young males ages 10-18 who do not have a father figure in their lives as eligible participants. 

There is an application process for selection.   Applicants must be between the ages of 10-18, with proof of NO father figure in their lives, and able to provide a letter of recommendation from a coach, pastor or teacher.

Campers will be taught leadership skills, teamwork, and manners, as well as some recreational activities.  This is an overnight camp.  Campers will be provided meals and dorm housing at Catholic University.
